Advantages
Poland covers an area characterized by a high development potential in renewable energy sources. New investments stimulate the development of local labor markets, better management of arable land and have a long term considerable impact upon environmental factors such as the elimination of greenhouse gas emissions and saving fossil fuels. Undoubtedly the availability of new technologies and the diversification of sources of energy supply improving energy security are also quite significant elements.

Local benefits from the use of renewable energy sources (RES):
-
- positive impact upon local tax policy. Real estate tax and income tax increase local budget revenues. In accordance with the Law of July 28th, 2005 amending the Construction Law and amendments to certain other laws (Dziennik Ustaw 2005, Nr 163, item 1364) a facility should be interpreted as any structure which is neither a building nor an element of small architecture and also as construction elements of technical equipment (boilers, furnaces, wind farms and other equipment) and foundations for machines and equipment as technically separate components of the entire facility. It means that for tax purposes a facility does not have to be interpreted as the entire facility since according to construction law a particular construction component of a given facility may be considered a facility,
- development of rural areas and increase of wealth in the region. The activation of local businesses, decrease of unemployment, increase of personal income from land lease and wasteland management make the region more attractive to investors. The use of renewable energy sources is also a great opportunity for areas with low population density and poor soil. In Denmark, for example, wind energy production market employs over 50,000.00 people,
- development of local infrastructure – roads, transmission and distribution infrastructure,
- decrease of costs of energy and heat production through a symbiosis between energy sources and local consumers’ needs,
- increase of tourist potential thanks to the environment friendly image of the region and related potential for promotion.
Research conducted in the EU Member States with the highest wind energy generation indicators suggests that 70 % of the people support wind farms and that support for wind farms has been steadily growing. In areas where wind farms are operating, support is even higher since local communities are active beneficiaries of wind farms. They are beneficial both for the local residents and for the entire country. In Denmark over 100,000.00 families own shares in wind farms. Markets in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain continue developing and investments in wind farms in these countries are perceived as long term capital investments offering much better rates of interest compared against deposits in banks. - positive impact upon local tax policy. Environmental benefits from RES:
-
- zero emissions of harmful substances, greenhouse gases and dust pollution to the atmosphere counteracts climate warming, local environmental pollution and acid rains,
- no cost of landfilling and wasteland rehabilitation,
- reduction of the impact of production and that of energy consumption upon the environment is directly linked to eliminating risks connected with ecological disasters and contamination.
